2006 Pinot Noir

quoteDark black wine from Alexandra, a deep south style concentrated with David Grant's stamp of fine tannins and concentrated fruit. A lovely cherry and spice tang runs through the palate and will continue to evolve and add to this wine. Something special-not to be rushed unquote

2007 Pinot Noir

quoteA supple wine from Alexandra, lots of tasty fruit with plenty of vibrancy and life as well as ripe fruit with good depth. Still youthful but opening up very well; an elegant style without compromising strength and character. unquote

Greylands Ridge 'Belle' Central Otago Pinot Rose 2010 StarStarStar˝
Some rose's are made as an afterthought, this one however has clearly been given some care and attention because it's vibrantly fruity and cherryish with attractive creaming soda notes and a crisp, tangy-dry finish. A lovely late-afternoon sip with some salty crackers and aromatic cheese.

Greylands Ridge Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 StarStarStarStar
Fresh, lush and spicy, this is a pinot that has some really interesting layers of savoury, earthy aroma's and baked strawberry, rhubarb and classic cherry flavours. Smooth, slippery tannins and a silky texture make this a very pleasant sip indeed.

Greylands Ridge 'Belle' Central Otago Rosé 2011 StarStarStar
Named after granddaughter Izobelle, made from clone 5, 10/5 and Abel from the 'Lachlan' block fermented to 13.0% alc. and 3 g/L rs, with addition of 10-15% saignee of the red. Very pale pink colour with youthful purple hues, this has a fresh, clean nose with bright aromatics of red florals and strawberries and subtle notes of fresh herbs. Dry to taste, this has light strawberry and boiled red sweet flavours with an attractive red floral note on a softly textured palate, the tannins firming up the palate crispness and dryness. This is clean, fresh and dry and will match antipasto, cold meats and tapas over the next 2 years. 16.0/20 Sep 2011

Ridgeback 'Alex' Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010 StarStarStarStar
A second label for Greylands Ridge, named as a tribute to the Medlicott's ridgeback cross 'Alexander'. Hand-harvest fruit, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine was aged 10 months in French oak. Bright ruby-red colour with purple hues, this has a light, tight nose with red berry fruits and red liquorice as well as a savoury spiciness. Medium-weighted, the wine is shy on attack with fresh, but linear red berry fruits, crisp acidity and a light, fine tannin thread through the palate. The wine blossoms and becomes richer on the finish with dark, raspberry and floral fruit flavours opening up as the proverbial 'peacock's tail'. Serve with firm flesh seafood and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. 17.0/20 Sep 2011

Greylands Ridge Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 StarStarStar
Pale ruby-garnet red colour with a light edge, this has a very elegant, finely expressed and tight bouquet of strawberries and cherries along with hints of herbs and delicate secondary savoury game complexities. A little oxidative nuttiness and forest floor nuance also show. Medium-weighted, this has a juicy, jammy palate, with soft, flat textures, gentle breadth and lowish acidity. The wine is mellow, and the cedary, spicy oak flavours are becoming integrated with the fruit. The tannins provide fine textures and a silkiness to the mouthfeel. Clone 5, 10/5, 115 and Abel fruit from the 'Greylands' vineyard, Alexandra, fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 16.5/20 Sep 2011
