.... the
latest vintage in a selection of fine Pinot Noir wines from the Central Otago
region of New Zealand...
Greylands Ridge Vineyard welcomes all visitors to our website, and hope that you enjoy the journey through our pages as much as you will savour the taste of our Pinot Noir Vintages which you can find out more about by reading on or by ordering a bottle or case of our wine.
Pinot Noir may be the toughest grape to grow, but the effort is well worth the investment. It is a fickle grape that demands optimum growing conditions, demanding warm days consistently supported by cool evenings. The climate found in Central Otago, New Zealand is proving to be ideal for producing an excellent wine as the climatic conditions epitomise the Pinot Noir's requirements.
The 2006 Vintage Greylands Ridge Pinot Noir is described by winemaker David Grant as;
A complex Pinot Noir with silky
tannins and flavours of dark fruits and cherries with a hint of spice. It
reflects the terroir of the area, dry stony soils, formerly home to tussock
grasses and wild thyme and a harsh continental climate unique in New Zealand.
You can order online and pay securely by credit card, by direct credit or by cheque (and cash).
3% of all sales of Ridgeback Alex Pinot Noir 2008 is donated to the NZ
SPCA. This wine was name after the Medlicott family's Ridgeback/cross
SPCA "pound puppy" Alexander (1990 - 2004). His rocky cairn lies
on a small ridge overlooking the back block of the vineyard and on his
plaque is a quote from Lord Byron.
