.... the
latest vintage in a selection of fine Pinot Noir wines from the Central Otago
region of New Zealand...
Greylands Ridge Vineyard welcomes all visitors to our website, and hope that you enjoy the journey through our pages as much as you will savour the taste of our Pinot Noir Vintages which you can find out more about by reading on or by ordering a bottle or case of our wine.
Pinot Noir may be the toughest grape to grow, but the effort is well worth the investment. It is a fickle grape that demands optimum growing conditions, demanding warm days consistently supported by cool evenings. The climate found in Central Otago, New Zealand is proving to be ideal for producing an excellent wine as the climatic conditions epitomise the Pinot Noir's requirements.
The 4th Alexandra Basin New Release Tasting was held over Labour Weekend with Bob Campbell MW, Cameron Douglas MS, Yvonne Lorkin from "Thirsty Work" and Charmian Smith From the Otago Daily Times. Attended by over 200 people the new release tasting was a great success and now all our new wines have been released.
The new Blanc de Noir especially was a great hit and very well reviewed by John Hawkesby on National Radio Nine to Noon on Tuesday 23/10/12 with a dish from Martin Bosely.

Presented by local wine guru and writer Yvonne Lorkin, Thirsty Work is a new show that unearths some of the personalities behind New Zealand's successful and innovative Wine and Beverage Industry. The 7 episode series (which debuts on Food TV on Wednesdays from August 15th, 9.30pm) soaks up New Zealand's beverage landscape. Not just vineyards, but barrel halls, tank rooms, cellar doors, wine stores, supermarkets, breweries and backyard vignerons. Greylands Ridge was featured on August 22nd, 2012 as shown in the video above.
Our wines are regularly reviewed by people such as Charmian Smith from the ODT, Peter Saunders in the Food and Beverage - Behind the Bars magazine, Cameron Douglas, Master of Wine, Yvonne Lorkin for Dish magazine, Raymond Chan and Sam Kim from Wine Orbit. Read what they had to say on our reviews page.
3% of all sales of Ridgeback Alex Pinot Noir 2008 is donated to the NZ
SPCA. This wine was name after the Medlicott family's Ridgeback/cross
SPCA "pound puppy" Alexander (1990 - 2004). His rocky cairn lies
on a small ridge overlooking the back block of the vineyard and on his
plaque is a quote from Lord Byron.
This photo shows Robyn Kippenberger CEO of the SPCA with Stephanie Otago Branch Manager SPCA and the first donation cheque from sales of "ALEX".
